SURPRISE, Ariz. – In only its second season of existence, Convergence Indoor Winds, a program of Convergence Performing Arts, Inc., competed in WGI World Championships April 12-13, in Dayton, OH. This marks an exciting moment for Convergence, and for the state of Arizona, as Convergence Indoor Winds is the first-ever indoor winds group from Arizona to compete in the WGI World Championships event. To make this historical moment even more significant, Convergence walked away with a fifth-place finish in the winds independent open class finals, scoring an 81.575.

Comprised of 20 performers from around the state of Arizona, Convergence Indoor Winds has been rehearsing approximately 16 hours a week since November to master their 2025 production, “Echoes”. WGI World Championships marked the conclusion of their 2025 season and comes just one week after they scored an 82.813 and the title of winds independent open class champion at the Winter Guard Arizona (WGAZ) Championships on April 5, held at Millennium High School.

“This is an exciting step for Convergence Indoor Winds, and we were honored to be the first indoor winds group from Arizona to compete on the international stage. But more importantly, we are grateful to be advocates and promoters of the indoor winds activity, paving the way for future groups to compete in this activity and in WGI World Championships,” said Andrew Glenn, Program Director for Convergence Indoor Winds.

In addition to the achievement of Convergence Indoor Winds, Convergence Indoor Percussion, another program of Convergence Performing Arts, Inc., also traveled to Dayton, OH to compete in WGI World Championships April 10-12! This also comes one week after they scored an 80.600 and secured a bronze medal at the WGAZ Championships; a remarkable achievement as this was their first season competing in the percussion independent open class, a higher class than previous seasons.
